Sling is offering a lot of incentives this Cyber Monday to get you to ditch cable. Sling TV might not be the most robust live TV streaming service, but it is one of the cheapest. It has three packages to choose from: Sling Orange, Sling Blue and both combined. The two packages share some channels, like CNN, History and TNT, but differ on others. Essentially, Sling Blue offers NBC and Fox in select markets, while Sling Orange comes with ESPN and Disney. Each individual package costs $40 a month, though you can combine them for $55.
If you’re set to take the cord-cutting plunge, now’s a great time to do so. Sling is offering half off the first month of service or new subscribers, plus a free Amazon Fire TV Stick Lite streaming device and a free month of Epix, Showtime and Starz on their Premium Pass. Sling is also throwing in a free month of their Lifestyle Extra package, which includes Hallmark and Lifetime movie channel, VH1 and more. That means you’ll only pay $20 for Sling Orange or Sling Blue and $27.50 for both, while also getting an additional $30 of savings on premium and extra channels. Oh, and you save $30 on the Fire TV Stick Lite as well.
After the promotion expires at the end of your first month, you’ll be charged the regular price for each service. Showtime is regularly $10 a month, Starz is $9, Epix is $5 and the Lifestyle Extra package is $6.
While Sling doesn’t offer all of the local channels you need to watch sports, it does come with Fox in select markets. Be sure to check if you live in one of the 18 markets that include Fox. If you do, this means that Sling Blue is one of the cheapest ways for you to watch your local Fox NFL games without cable, while you’ll still be able to catch Monday Night Football on ESPN with Sling Orange.
Meanwhile, the Amazon Fire TV Stick Lite is our second favorite budget streaming device, behind the Chromecast with Google TV HD. This Fire TV’s biggest advantage is a remote with built-in voice search and control powered by Alexa. This allows you to control your TV with your voice, which you’ll need because the remote itself lacks physical buttons for your TV’s power, volume and inputs. If you were spending your own money, we’d tell you to get the Chromecast with Google TV HD for its fully functioning remote instead, but we think you’ll do just as well with a free Fire TV Stick Lite courtesy of Sling.
Sling is available on a multitude of platforms, including Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Google TV, game consoles and more, so you can watch pretty much anywhere.
